Stage 1 – Petra: Rally Jameel Kicks Off in the Heart of History

Petra, Jordan – April 23, 2025:
Rally Jameel 2025 officially roared to life today in the breathtaking city of Petra, launching the fourth edition of the region’s first women-only navigational rally. Against the dramatic rose-red backdrop of one of the New Seven Wonders of the World, participants tackled the first leg of this year’s cross-border route—marking the first time Rally Jameel has started beyond Saudi borders.

With rugged mountain trails, narrow canyons, and open desert flats, Petra offered a visually stunning and technically demanding introduction to the rally. The terrain tested navigation, teamwork, and endurance from the outset.

Reem Al Aboud and Hanna Riehle of Jameel Motorsport are leading the standings after Day 1, delivering a steady and confident performance in their Toyota Land Cruiser Prado. They are followed closely by Team Canada, Michelle Laframboise and Elise Racette in a Toyota Fortuner, and Al Tawkilat Motorsport, Jalah Aighalib and Joanna Hassoun in a GMC Canyon. These results remain provisional until officially confirmed by rally organizers.

Unlike traditional races, Rally Jameel is not about speed—each team accumulates points by reaching checkpoints with precision timing, following a route revealed day by day.
